Dr Htet is a senior lecturer/head of department at the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, School of Medicine, International Medical University (IMU), Malaysia. She is a graduate of the University of Medicine (1) Yangon, Myanmar (Burma) for her both MBBS and the Master of Medical Science in Pharmacology. After her internship, she joined academia as an assistant lecturer at the pharmacology department, University of Medicine 1 Yangon, from 2004, until 2013. From 2013 to date, she has been working as a lecturer and then as a senior lecturer in Malaysia. She also obtained the post-graduate certificate in health professions education (PGCertHPE) from the International Medical University in 2019 and is currently pursuing PhD (Medicine and Health Sciences) at IMU focusing on detecting genetic polymorphism of the inflammatory mediators in formalin-fixed gastric cancer tissue samples from a hospital setting and a retrospective study on the chemotherapeutic treatment of gastric cancer patients. She is also an academic ambassador of the British Pharmacological Society and is actively involved in the educators’ network series and events under the BPS and in society meetings and presented her research and academic experiences in several meetings. Her research interests are pharmacogenetics, genetic polymorphism, phenotyping, ocular pharmacology, clinical pharmacokinetics, and plasma drug assay. She is also a Cochrane author who has a keen interest in evidence-based medicine and had published a few systematic reviews and meta-analyses works including a Cochrane protocol.
